What’s Up Next for the CHS Girls Basketball Program

Winter sports are up and running…or swimming. Girls basketball is one of these sports. Many eyes are on Clackamas High School’s girls basketball program this season. They are the Oregon 6A defending state champion, winning their first state title for the program in the final game against South Medford in early March.

Now, without seniors Rhyan Mogel and Eliza Buerk, it’s up to the returning team, including Junior Jazzy Davidson. She has been a star since her Freshman year, standing at 6’1, and making her presence known. Many college opportunities have come her way, including offers from Stanford, Oregon, Washington State, UConn, Louisville, Oregon State, Gonzaga, and many more.

Rhyan Mogel was 1 of 3 sisters on the team. This year, Juniors Dylan and Reece Mogel, who are twins, are continuing the Mogel legacy. When asked how it was playing on a team with both sisters, Dylan said “It was a great experience! We’ve grown up watching each other play, so it was kind of a natural transition”. Not only did they get to play together, but they also got to win that state championship together. “It was pretty surreal. We had a bunch of future Cavs, as well as alumni in the stands, so it was a full-circle moment. It was cool to see all the support we got from the community. It was special to see all of our peers just as excited as we were.” An experience she and many others will never forget. Dylan plans to continue her basketball career in college, and hopes to be a college basketball coach one day.

Things are looking good for this team- new additions, but the same mindset to win. Only time will tell how this team will do and what they are capable of. Their first regular season game is January 9th, at 6PM against Central Catholic at home.
