Governor Kate Brown joined the governors of Washington and California on Monday to revise the timeline for the end of the mask mandate.  In turn, North Clackamas staff and families were notified about the impact on NCSD schools from Seth Gordon, Director of Communications and Public Relations.

“Earlier this morning Oregon announced it will end the indoor mask mandate beginning March 12, a week earlier than previously planned.  The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is expected to release the newest version of Ready Schools Safe Learners (RSSL) on March 2 which will outline the updated guidance for Covid-19 mitigation and protocols, including metrics for masking in K-12 schools.  NCSD still intends to make masks optional beginning March 12, or when allowed, (sic) and will plan the details of our adjusted Covid-19 strategy in accordance with the RSSL guidance. We will share details regarding those changes early next week.”

It was less than a week ago that the NCSD Board of Directors voted to make masks optional after March 18, the last day before Spring Break.
