March For Our Lives

Morrigan Armstrong, Senior Reporter

Four years ago, thousands of local folks marched through downtown Portland urging lawmakers to make changes in gun laws.  Today, students and others will march again after hundreds of mass shooting have happened across the country, including Oregon.  Congress is expected to take up  comprehensive gun control legislation next week in Washington, D.C. while outside the building marchers will walk by with signs calling for background checks, raising the age of gun sales, and making sure gun buyers have a waiting period before purchasing a gun.

Locally, the March will be held Saturday, June 11th – one begins near Portland State University outside the Smith Center in the Park Blocks from 11-2.   The other march in Portland from Portland City Hall to Peace Park from noon to 2.
